Come to Morgan Observatory at Umpqua Community College on the night of January 20th to learn about lunar eclipses and if the skies clear, watch a three hour total  lunar eclipse.  Doors open at until 10:30 p.m. with limited seating.   The lunar eclipse begins just after 7:30 p.m. with totality occurring about an hour later showing the “blood moon”.  Bring heavy winter clothes and a blanket since winter nights are cold in the unheated observatory.  For more information call the observatory  at 541-440-4719 and leave a message for a call back.  You can also learn more about this eclipse at the January 8th meeting of Umpqua Astronomers at U.C.C. Wayne Crooch Hall,  room 18 at 7 p.m.   Our next  total lunar eclipse will be May 26, 2021, so cross your fingers for a few cloud free hours on the 20th.
